THE BEGINNING
It
all started after Derek Russell
surprised his wife Christine
at their Silver
Wedding Anniversary, by appearing
in a red and white jump suit
singing along to backing tapes
of their idol Elvis. During
the song "The Wonder of You
" he walked over to Christine and gave
her a scarf, and sewn inside it was
a gold locket. The next day they were
inundated with telephone calls from
guests who were at the party wanting
Derek to put on a show. After some
consideration he said he would do
it, if money was raised for children
at the local hospital.
THE
PRESENT
The March 12th concert
raised £1,885.34 for 21 month old Shane
to help him with treatment
at the Bowbath Centre in London as
he suffers with Quadriplegic Cerebral
palsey, bringing the Grand total to £60,925.50p
raised to date for different local
causes.
The
backing singers travelled to Lincolnshire
by kind invitation of Dawn & Anthony, to
perform at their Wedding reception
on September 23rd. They gave us
a very generous donation and also
went round the guests to collect
any loose change they had and
we raised £1,124.08p which
was divided between Dawn and
Anthony's charity for the
Teenage Cancer Unit in Lincoln
Hospital and our charity for children's
diabetes at Q.E. Hospital King's
Lynn. This will be added to our
funds from the next concert.
At
the 10th Anniversary concert on
December 3rd at Searles of Hunstanton,
we raised £3,527.54p
in aid of equipment for children's
Diabetes at the QE.Hospital King's
Lynn.
At the December 2nd 2007 concert £3,208.25p was raised to support the Children's Liver Foundation. A good night was had by all, but it was also a very emotional night, as after Elvis had his accident last year, we did not think he would be able to perform any more concerts. But how wrong we all were.
Bringing
the grand total raised to help
local people to:
£70,841.93p
We raised £3,048.90p at the concert on March 9th in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Bringing
the grand total raised to help
local people to:
£73,890.83
The concert in aid of the Magpie Centre raised £1,312:05.
The March 15th 2009 concert raised £1,527.35p for SCBU.
The Elvis Concert on December 6th 2009 raised £1,339.60 which was divided between Wisbech and District Talking Newspaper and Meadowgate School in Wisbech. This
